Healthy & happy holidays

If you can believe it….we have hit the holiday season.

Hard to believe because it feels like we have been repeating the same day over and over for almost an entire year. Even though the holidays will be different than usual we can still EMBRACE them & create fun memories along the way.

One of the TOP questions I get this time of the year is “how can I get results while not foregoing the holiday?” The answer might surprise you so keep reading! Here are my TOP 3 TIPS to having a healthy & happy holiday season:

#1 MAINTAIN YOUR ROUTINE

Yes, the chaos of the holidays brings a lot of stress, unplanned events, changes and lack of routine. One of the most beneficial things you can do for yourself is to maintain YOUR routine as much as possible. This can help you to feel more in control. Decrease your stress and enable you to feel like you are taking care of yourself. Easy parts to your routine that are super beneficial to your health, happiness and sanity can be getting your workout in, doing your daily affirmations, meditation or morning routine. If you lack a high vibe morning routine download my free guide 🙂 Don’t compromise your needs this holiday season at the expense of others who don’t reciprocate the same energy.

#2 ENJOY THE DAMN MEAL

Yupppppp! Eat the MF meal. Period. I hate this time of the year when it comes to being in the health & fitness industry. It brings back memories of so much shame/guilt from following improper diets/plans. The holidays should not bring fear, guilt or shame for enjoying yourself. One meal will NOT deter your goals just like one salad doesn’t give you abs. On the day of the holiday, EAT, yes EAT. Follow your normal plan, eat accordingly and then enjoy your meal. One of the biggest mistakes I used to make at the holidays was not eating all day to save my calories. That not only is unnecessary but also puts you into a position to over indulge to the point of feeling sick. Wake up, eat breakfast, hydrate all day and then go into your meal enjoying your favorite things with NO guilt.

#3 WORKKKKK IT OUT

One of my FAVORITE things to do on a holiday is to wake up and get my body moving. Not because of the calorie content of the meal but let’s me honest workouts decrease our stress & give us endorphins. Endorphins make us happy and not lash out on our family during the holiday lol. If you see the workout as a number in terms of calories, please give yourself grace and rest. Our goal is following a lifestyle transformation is to heal our past relationships with food and disordered behavior. Find a fun workout to do and start your day off on a positive note. Stop focusing so much on increasing your cardio to balance your intake. Start focusing on being so in love with yourself that you value movement because you deserve a better quality of life.

It’s time we stop overcomplicating getting results and end this constant holiday struggle of quick fixes & fad diets to lose weight knowing damn well you’re just going to gain it all back. It’s time to get off that wild rollercoaster and start making small habit changes over time that lead to long term success!

Now…go enjoy your friends and family! Happy Holidays!
