Monthly TBR — June 2026 By Gina Marie | @ginamariefit
May was one of the best reading months I have had in a long time and June is already looking like it is going to top it. Four books. Four completely different reasons to stay up way too late. If you want to follow along in real time, grab any of these and read with me, reviews drop every Friday and the full monthly ranking goes up at the end of the month.
Here is everything on my June TBR and why each one made the list.
#1 — The Divorce by Freida McFadden
If you know Freida McFadden you already know why this is the first book I am picking up in June. The Divorce follows Naomi, a woman whose husband blindsides her with divorce proceedings, drains their accounts, moves in a younger woman, and leaves her to figure out what is left of her life. Instead of accepting defeat, Naomi becomes completely fixated on her husband’s new girlfriend and what starts as curiosity spirals into something far darker and far more dangerous. This is her newest release and after The Boyfriend and The Inmate delivered back to back last month I am fully trusting Freida to keep me up at night again.
#2 — Beautiful Ugly by Alice Feeney
This one has been on my radar since it dropped and I am finally making it happen in June. Beautiful Ugly follows Grady Green, an author whose wife Abby vanishes without a trace after a phone call one evening. A year later he retreats to a remote Scottish island trying to piece his life back together and then sees a woman who looks exactly like his missing wife. Alice Feeney is known for twists that completely reframe everything you thought you understood and the gothic atmosphere of a Scottish island setting alone has me hooked before I even open the cover.
#3 — The Only One Left by Riley Sager
Riley Sager has been on my TBR for a while and June is finally the month. The Only One Left is set in a crumbling gothic mansion on the Maine coast and centers on a home care nurse who is assigned to look after an elderly woman accused of slaughtering her entire family back in 1929. Nobody has ever believed Leonora’s version of what happened that night. But as the nurse gets closer to the truth she starts to realize the story is far more complicated and far more dangerous than anyone ever admitted. Dark atmosphere, gothic setting, and an unsolved family mystery, this one has everything.
#4 — Next of Kin by Kia Abdullah
Next of Kin is the book on this list I know the least about going in and honestly that makes me even more excited for it. The story centers on Leila Syed, a woman who forgets her young nephew in the backseat of her car on the hottest day of the year. What follows is a courtroom drama as Leila stands trial for manslaughter — but as the case unfolds it becomes clear there is far more to this story than a terrible accident. This one is completely different from anything else on my June list and I am here for the change of pace.
