The Chapter I’m In: His & Hers By Alice Feeney

This book hooked me immediately.

No slow build. No waiting for something to happen. From the very first chapter, the suspense was already there, and it never really let up.

I love when a book does that. When you feel pulled in instantly instead of having to work your way into the story.

And His & Hers delivered exactly that.

The Perspective Shift That Made It So Good

One of my favorite parts of this book was how it was told from three different perspectives.

Anna, the news reporter.
Jack, the detective.
And the third perspective… the murderer.

But the murderer’s perspective is anonymous.

You don’t know who it is. You don’t know who to trust. And every chapter leaves you questioning everything you thought you understood just moments before.

It was done so well and kept me fully engaged the entire time.

The Suspense and Plot Progression

The story centers around a series of murders that slowly begin connecting back to Anna and Jack’s past. As the plot unfolds, you realize nothing is random. Everything is connected in ways you don’t expect.

This is one of those books where you’re constantly trying to solve it yourself. Trying to stay one step ahead. And just when you think you’ve figured it out, it shifts again.

You’re misled in the best way. The twists felt intentional, layered, and smart.

What Worked for Me

This book felt fast without feeling rushed. The pacing kept me engaged. The chapters were easy to move through. And the multiple perspectives made it feel dynamic instead of predictable.

During this chapter of my life, I’m really valuing things that allow me to unplug and be fully present. Reading has become part of my reset. A way to slow down mentally while still giving my mind something stimulating and immersive.

This book did exactly that. It pulled me completely out of my routine and into the story.

What Didn’t Fully Land for Me

The ending, for me personally, felt like a stretch.

It wasn’t bad. It just felt bigger than what the rest of the story had built toward. Almost like it went a step further than it needed to.

It didn’t ruin the book, but it did take away from how believable everything had felt up until that point. Still, the journey getting there was absolutely worth it.

My Rating

⭐️ 8.5 out of 10

Super twisty. Smart. Engaging. And hard to put down.

Even with an ending that felt slightly unrealistic, I would absolutely recommend it.

Why It Fits The Chapter I’m In

Right now, I’m choosing balance. More time away from screens. More moments where I’m not multitasking. More space to just slow down and be present.

Books like this have become part of that rhythm. They give my mind something to focus on that isn’t work, productivity, or pressure.

Just story. Just curiosity. Just escape. And sometimes, that’s exactly what you need.

Final Thoughts

If you love psychological thrillers with multiple perspectives, strong suspense from the start, and twists that keep you questioning everything, His & Hers is absolutely worth reading.

It keeps you guessing the entire time and delivers a story that’s both entertaining and mentally engaging.
